I want my premises back!

The Problem
What can you do if your tenant doesn’t leave at the end of his lease?

The Law
The Landlord and Tenant Act 1730 - yes, 1730! - enables a landlord to claim "double value" from a tenant willfully holding over after his lease has ended.

The Solution
Serve a notice on your tenant demanding possession and claim double the rental value of the premises. This only works where your tenant has no renewal rights but, used correctly, it can focus the tenant’s mind wonderfully to pay up or shut up shop!
